Sphere vs IBL in 09?

I used to use a sphere for reflection from an hdri image. I would pipe the hdri into the incandescence and color of a lambert shader. But for some reason that takes 10 times longer to render than the IBL. Why is this and is this fixable? I like to have multiple reflection spheres for some projects on different render layers.

Also can you have more than 1 IBL in a scene if they are on seperate layers?

Thanks

Not sure about why the sphere takes longer to render...however you can have multiple IBL's (just 1) but change the texture on different render layers. On your second layer, in the attribute editor of the IBL, rt click over the path for the image of your IBL and select "create layer override" nothing changes orange though like it does on most attributes you can override. Put a new path in there and you're set. To see if it was done right, just switch back and forth between your render layers
