Maya PC2 Export

at our studio, we use both Max and Maya and we are having some trouble transferring animation data between the two. FBX is not very reliable format when it comes to exporting animation, so we have to bake out a lot of stuff in point caches.

Now the biggest problem is Maya can only export xml point cache files, and in 3ds Max, xml is only format that can not be cached into memory, so if the scenes get even slightly more complex, it is plain impossible to interact with their animation in 3ds Max, as things get extremely slow.

So, i am curious if there is any way to easily export PC2 files out of Maya, or if there are any other ways of lossless animation export from Maya to Max without bringing Max’s playback performance to a crawl.

We also tried Alembic plugins from Exocortex, but they perform even lot worse than native point cache does.

best results are baking if feasible.
