Hair and Fur rendering in 3DSmax

Hi there, i just started using the hair and fur modifier in 3DSmax, I am having an issue with rendering out the hair. I created the hair form with the spline method and rendered out using mental ray.

When i do a close up render of the head and hair the render seems fine.

When i do a distance shot, the hair seeme to be semi transparent.

Just curious if any one else has had this issue and know's how to correct it.

Both of those look pretty messed up to me

Are you rendering with the default hair? (renders with the Zbuffer)
If so then you must only use default lights and not photometric lighting
With photometric lighting you have to render as geometry or MRprim

Hi darthviper107,

I was using the default hair, switched to the MRprim and everything is working out fine now with the renders. Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated.
