expandable arm

so been meaning to do my logo as a character for a bit but tryin to see how to do the arms his arm are short but i want to have them extend out to be longer but need to see how to hid the excess of the arms. I know we can use a ribbon of sorts but its the length is my issue. or some type of script to keep adding to the arm as it keeps getting longer. see example

I'm confused on what you mean by "how to hid the excess of the arms". Can you clarify? 

Ribbon is not really an "expandable" feature. It is for bendy feature. 
Look up on "Rigging stretchy joints", it might be what you need.

Use stretchy ikArm or splineIk with twist joints, so it can extend or shrink to certain extend.

what i mean is his arms are short and when they extend they we need to show that there are more links to indicate the arm is increasing in length not necessarily streaking robots don't stretch.


think like a chain that can keep adding links as it gets longer

To be honest, I'm still confused on what you are trying to do. Out of curiosity, can you post a screenshot of the solved final stretch of the arm?

think like inspector gadget with is arms that can extend out of no where an keep extending we just going to use iK spline and some other controls to extend the arms . The arms are not stretchy they get longer based on how many links we have.
