Correction deformer -> selection tag

Did anyone else notice that you can use the correction deformer to create a polygon selection tag on a parametric object? I often need to make an object editable only because I need to restrict a material to a polygon selection and now I don't need to.

Cool, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know that.

it turns out that once you've moved the selection tag from the correction deformer to the parametric object, you can delete the deformer and the tag continues to work perfectly.

Yes, this is an old known trick.
Also, if you have a Cineversity PremiumMembership, you can get the awesome CV-Parametric Selection Tag, that allows you to generate selections using rules... a lot of rules :-)
And yes, it works on Procedural objects as well.

I have to say that one of the biggest benefits of a Maxon MSA, is that you get Cineversity Premium for free. The plugins alone, not to mention watching my amazing tutorials, is worth the MSA price alone...

I was also pleasantly surprised when I learned about this "trick". Thanks for sharing!

That being said, if only they added the ability to add loops and extra geometry with the correction deformer... That would make modeling truly non-destructive :P
