"Unmystified" is an all 3D piece of art I created in tribute to the "Uncharted" video game series by "Naughty Dog". Playing "Uncharted 2" I was extremely impressed and inspired by the detailed art, especially the environments, and I wanted to create my own vision of what I thought could be a unique and mysterious location in the "Uncharted" universe.

While developing "Uncharted" I was also professionally working on the "Mists of Pandaria" cinematic at Blizzard entertainment which influenced the choice of making Chinese architectural themes in the stone work.

This was a fun project to work on, and the inspiration of playing video games was even more fun!

A lot of details. Great! But you could improve the still a lot by using light to point to specific areas. At the moment the still looks too flat.

This is a stunning piece of work. The attention to detail and long hours you must have put into this have really paid off. I love the stonework.

If I had to make a constructive criticism I think the tree texture could have used more colour variation.

Excellent work.

Feedback - Thank you!

RAF - Thank you. Yeah, lighting was tricky on this one, it definitely got a bit busy in there with all the geo and light patches. I plan to do a night render in the near future, so it will be easier to guide the eye on that one. Also, nice work on your recent "Wild Little World" piece! I will be sure to post a comment on it shortly.

MusashiDan - Thank you! Yes, many hours on this piece, easily in the 100-200 hour range. It took a lot longer than normal because I wanted to learn as many new softwares and techniques as possible for each portion of the image I created, but it was well worth it as I learned so many new things. I am working on some "Making of" tutorials for the piece, so I will be sure to let you know when that comes out if you are interested? And as detail goes, I have always been a sucker for trying to cram every square inch of a composition with information. It will be challenging for me to make a piece with negative space, so that might be what I do next!

InTerceptoV - I will make a Dr. Seus version of this composition just for you! Lol. Thanks for the compliment and also for all the feedback during the creation of this piece, it wouldn't look as good as it did without your help!

Stunning work. Every time I look I'm drawn to another piece of detail.

Details, details.....

Jonathan, Vladimir, Mike,

Thank you for the compliments about the details. I have always loved filling every square inch of a canvas with detail ever since I was a kid, and this was a fun piece to keep adding tiny pieces of information either in the textures or debri, vegetation, etc.

Also, you guys have some nice environment work going on in your pieces as well. Look forward to seeing more from you all soon!
