Sticky lips that doesn't take 100 steps?

I've looked everywhere for tutorials and found only a few lackluster vague explanations. I'm really frustrated and hurting. There's a few threads here on these Maya boards with links to this... but it is screwing with my head.

This link was suggested but my results cause vertex jiggling:

And the Stop Staring book offers 10 pages of the setup.... it's a fairly heavy setup

I need something simple. One TD has a video where he selects an edge loop, shift selects the center vertice of that loop and hits a button. Automatic stickiness on contact isn't necessary. Manually animated controls are fine.

The link you provide is the basic setup I'm familiar with in maya if you don't have a custom deformer.. the TD you mention is probably using a custom deformer.

The latest SOuP has a stickyCurves deformer.

Still can't get a decent solution for this. I can't believe there are no decent tutorials for this topic?
