Maya ship

I need any advice in regards to lighting, texture, modeling to help make this look more photo realistic,

modeling - in general you need to know how to control soft/hard edge. Also check out subdivision modeling, rendering approximation (mental ray) or render time subdivision (vray).

lighting - look up some realistic car or HDRI rendering at Digitial Tutors.
