Sliced Editable Cube

Hi guys,Here's a little problem that one of you might feel inclined to have a stab at...I want to create a sliced cube that looks similar to the one in the attached imageslicedCube.jpgHowever I'd also like to push and pull its vertices in the same way I've illustrated in the attached image cornerPullCube.jpegI've been unable to find a way to do this while keeping each slice straightbetween each of the four edges on the cube.Edit: I'd also love to be able to offset the position of the slices but this is less important.Anyone have any ideas? (please let me know if I'm not making sense)M

Looks like a prime candidate for the Boolean object to me.
-Create a Connect object and put your slices under it
-Create a Boolean object and put the cube under it as the first child
-Put the Connect object under the Boolean object as the second child

if I understand you, you want the shape in bottom image with cuts like top image? if so then: create your cube, make it editable ("C" key), select points at each corner you want reshaped, move them as you need, then apply loop cuts, loop select the polys and give them a set selection then apply your texture to that selection.

Hi,
you can use a FFD to deform your sliced cube.
Set the grid point parameter for all three axis to 2.

Apply a checkerboard texture in the lum channel...3.5 in the V and 0 in the U.
Next, drop a twist deformer under the cube. (other deformers work as well)

as you can see, in C4D there are a myriad of different ways to accomplish the same task

Perfect job for the Voronoi Fracture object, with a vertical spline as a source. You can make as many slices as you want, and offset the slices with a random effector. Completely procedural.

I likevid2k2's approach, and if the OP wants to mess around with verts after the fact, while keeping the original cube parametric, the correction deformer is perfect for that.

Thanks guys, lots of great suggestions here, I really appreciate your efforts.

I'll show you the method that worked best for me, I suppose it's a combination of a couple of those posted here.unclebob - this is a smart solution but I think it'd be cool if the slices could offset too, here's how I got that to work -

The slices are in a cloner which can offset by moving them up on world Y. These clones are inside a Boole to maintain our cube shape and all of this is controlled by an FFD to move the corners.

Not as clean as I'd like since the slices can't just offset with a simple slider control but does the job.
