Question Why max 2010 project opened in 2012 changes..? am I missing something?

Hi,
My problem is that when I first opened and played the 2010 max scene animation in max 2012.. Ive noticed some crazy little changes for example:

Some of the items are not in their exact place -which is important since the main character is holding and moving them.
Also the spring ears controllers are swaying to all directions in some key frames..
And the camera in some shots is not at its original place..or maybe just the lens less opened..

Im worried about fixing them manually, and later finding out that its way deeper then that..and Im working many days for nothing..
so ..before Im returning back to max 2010..I really hope Im missing something and there is a solution to that..

thanks for any idea !

Elad

p.s. Ive just upgraded my system from xp to win7 + from max 2010 to max 2012 and did update to sp2 & other updates.

Instead of opening the file you could always try to import it in Max 2012.

And follow this "rule" - never upgrade your software mid project, better to start and finish it in the same package.

thanks for the respond
what do you mean by: try to import?
its a complex multi-objects scene. so its not possible with the import command as far as I know.. (tried it now as well )
I know its not recommended but my projects really needed upgrade to 64 bit
so I could use more calculating power for it..so I thought Ill give it a try..
if its too much of a problem I can always go back..

Try to import the 2010 scene into 2012 with the file->import->merge command.

If the most important thing was the 64-bit of Max there's a 64-bit version of Max 2010 as well that you could give a spin if the problems with 2012 persist. Not sure if you will get more "calculation power", but your softwares will surely get access to more memory (if available). This usually turns out in performance gain.

Do you have the same system units set to the same in both versions of Max ?
Do you have "Respect System units in Files" activated ?

Both answers should be yes, otherwise Max 2012 might simply scale your Max 2010 project to the current set system settings. You should get a scale mismatch dialog on open then, at least when the "Respect System units in Files" option is checked
If you get that missmatch dialog , you should choose "Adopt the File Unit's scale" of course
