Smile Ian Chiew - Drone Encounter

Here is my first painting that I did with some 3D block ins. Really glad I picked up some ZBrush and Modo this time around! Not sure if this is the right place to post though :S

But thanks for checking it out!

Nice progress.

I think you can add more color or value contrast with respect to foreground and background.

This is a nice piece. There's a readability issue I noticed though. The mech's left "shoulder"--the part the juts up and angles inwards towards the top of the head--it reads like it could be a building in the background upon first glance, as does two vertical leg pieces. Although it's easy to tell what they are once you look closer, it's always better to make sure the readability of your scene is immediately obvious as to not cause any possible misreading at first glance. Ali's suggestions of varying the colors/contrast between the foreground and background is a good one--it'll help separate the two planes more clearly. Maybe you can make the shadow side cooler than the lit side (due to sky dome reflection), and since the mech is mostly back-lit, it'll immediately separate it from the warmer background.

These are all great feedback, thanks a lot!! I will try fixing those issues
