The Little Mermaid, Tommaso Renieri (2D)

Title: The Little Mermaid
Name: Tommaso Renieri
Country: Italy
Software:

Today I propose my daily inspiration: a vision of the mermaid immersed in the colors and suspended in the depths.
I propose a different style, because it's a personal job :)
Done in Clip Studio Paint, 4 hours.
1 level only.
Please tell me if you like it.
Thank you so much!

I do like it. If it weren't for the fish tail, I wouldn't have thought her to be a mermaid, since it looks like she's immersed in fire. The colors in the background are pretty and striking, but not really an underwater feel. I do see the attempts are blocking out some coral, which is nice and adds some texture and substance to the background. Impressed that you did this is four hours. It's a really nice speed painting, and I like the brush strokes used for the mermaids hair, hips and hands. Something about those hands just seems to work here (the arms are almost a tad too vague; like it needed a few more directional strokes to angulate the elbow and upper arm).

I really like how you did the hips and thighs with the different brush strokes, shape formation and use of varying colors (that section of the mermaid is probably my favorite part; and I especially like the variation is fish tail color patterns). I love the expressiveness of her thick mass of curly red hair (kind of like Merida from "Brave"), and you managed to give her a sultry and mysterious look and expression, despite the roughness of the painting style (congrats there). Overall, you were really successful with this piece. Definitely a keeper for your portfolio. Keep it up. Great job.
