Conversion Request - .blend to FBX

Hey whats up guys,

Can someone give me a hand and export a .blend file to an FBX for me?

I know blender is free and all, but I can't install software on my work PC and I all I need to do is convert this for use in 3dsMax.

Thanks in advance, just let me know if you can help.

That file is not a blend file - it will not open in Blender.

By the way, you do not have to install Blender on your work machine - it runs out of a folder. No need to install anything. You could even run it off a usb drive or stick.

Thanks man, good to know.

In regards to the file issues...So is .blend the correct extension but you're getting a file error upon opening?

You sure it's not a version issue (I know Max will throw an error if I try to open a 2010 file with 2009)?

(Just want to make sure I know what exactly the issue is.)

It was probably a bad download.

Opens for me. Looks like an old 2.49 file.

I don't have Max but the file opens in Maya fine.

Let me know if you have issues opening it in Max and I'll try and export from Maya.

Ahum, you were right - the first time the download somehow went awry. Tested again in Chrome, and now it loaded up - sorry for that.

Older versions will still try to make sense of newer versions' blends - generally the models and scenes do load up, but some of the functionality may be borked.

True. I did not see any animation on it but to the OP I do have 2.49 installed so if you are missing something I can export from there as well.
