face modelling WIP

Hey guys,

I have just started working on modelling a male face. I am aiming at creating a realistic output. My initial idea was to create a portrait of a Navy officer, so I picked up a reference face that has prominent facial features. This the the base model that I made in MAYA.

Here are some WIP pictures. Sorry they are not rendered images, just viewport print-screens. I am open to all kinds of feedback.

Thanks.

His head looks squashed in the front view. Are you using reference images? It's possible that the reference you are using has some severe fisheye distortion which is affecting your model's proportions. His cranium is looking a little bulbous, but that is probably also as a result of your reference images.

you have to adjust your front view angle camera to remove that perspective effect.

Thank you Scote for the feedback. It was about the focal length, I figured. I have done some tweaking to my model. Here's an update.

Here is the face I am using as a reference.

I see my mistake.
I think I might have added volume on the part where there is hair.
I'll post an update as soon as I fix that.

thanks

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am sorry that you can't see the image. I really have no clue what's going on.

This is another attempt to display the reference image, this time through google images.

if it still didn't load please try the following link

Again I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Here is an updated picture of my model

Thanks

Change of mind

So I made a little change to my concept. My initial idea in mind was to create a navy officer in uniform, but having reconsidered it, I have decided to turn my character into a street thug, who has just had a fight and so has a bruised face. So this is how he looks now. Feedbacks are welcome.
