Scene: Irongore Vs The Cave Junget, Dennis Allain (2D)

Title: Scene: Irongore Vs The Cave Junget
Name: Dennis Allain
Country: United States
Software: Cinema4d, Photoshop

This was/is an exercise in sharpening my 'painterly' skills using photoshop. The knight was built in 3d and composited into the rest of the image which was done in Phototshop. I used variuos brush sizes and opacities to first darken the whole image and then 'pull out' the details. I may do a full blown 3d piece which would have more color and detail, hopfully if time permits... C&C always welcome
Thanks for looking!!!

You make good use of contrast here. I like how you compose this piece with basically nothing more than lights and shadows playing off each other. It compliments your rough brush work and really brings it all together. I guess if I were to make any suggestions, they would mostly concern the flat values you've used in your environment. A suggestion of depth and in the background and maybe some form defining highlights of the foreground where the knight is standing would really help to add context. As well, maybe some more detail on the monster's knuckles and fingers would help to give great emphasis on his strength and really bring out his overall presence. Nothing too drastic though. I love the rough look and feel of this! You definitely do not want to compromise that.
