Why in maya 2013 one core always active?

Hi

i am wondering if some one can help me, i am using Maya 2013 and i noticed that when i move my camera or play the animation in default quality rendering in Maya 2013 one CPU core remain active after that all the time.

is there any solution for that?

It seems I am the only one to have this problem....... forget about solution....... any advise? anybody?

Not really sure what you are after. Is that core running at 100%? I guess Maya needs one core to run atleast as every application.

It's a bug in the early builds of 2012. What happens is that if you're on a floating license then after 30mins of Maya being inactive it polls the server to see if it can push that license back to the pool until your Maya becomes active again. In theory its a good idea but unfortunately it never releases the core and it'll sit there at 25% until you reboot.

To fix it either install a later build of 2012, or there's en environment variable you can add that stops the server polling happening in the first place.

The only thing is to unload any extra plugins. Maybe it's a rogue plugin?

I haven't come across this in 2013, but 2012 like Mark mentions, this was an annoying problem.

no worries, I tend to blog any bugs I find, more to remind myself in the future what issues we had, always comes in useful as a reference!
