new here -suggestions for training

hi all,

i'm a long time lightwave user and am looking into getting into cinema4d having been poking
around greyscalegorrilla for a little while.

looks like a great piece of software, that will hopefully augment my work initially and maybe become my main tool.

before i make the jump, i'm looking into various training options.

can anybody recommend any project based training that follows standard structure....

1 - interface overview\ core concepts
2 - model
3 - surface\texture\uv
4 - light
5 - animate
6 - render
7 - effects

digital tutors have similar for maya, max and soft (building something like a spaceship i think)
but i cant find anything anywhere that gives a very broad overview of the basic steps.

any help in the mater would be great,

thanks

n.

check out Cineversity. There's a lot of free tutorials there. The R10 series(which is pretty darn old now) is free, and will get you situated with a lot of the concepts of cinema even if the app layout has changed a little bit.

C4D Cafe has lots of free ones, and digital tutors is pretty good too.

Not really on the radar, per se, but found Shepperd O'neill's
site after following a query on C4D Cafe about modeling an aircraft
prop and housing. He's very detailed and has a good delivery
making it easy to understand ... especially when concentrating
on sub-d modeling.

Even an old timer like me picked up a couple good tips

Another vote for Vertex Pusher and anything by Tim Clapham

+1 for Tim Clapham. Very clear delivery, well thought out tutorials, and he doesn't waste a second. His voice is also easy to listen to, which is everything with video tutorials. (Why can't Garrison Keillor do these things? )

The Cinema 4D R14 version of the Spaceship tutorial you mentioned just came out yesterday on Digital Tutors, 13Hrs 40mins long, looks like a good bet:

Edited, sorry, had the wrong link.
