Fire Flight - Super Slow Mo 3D Fire on Phantom Flex 1000fps

http://youtu.be/GaspF7gW4tU

This is "Fire Flight" a promotional music video for the Phoenix Dance Theatre in Leeds

Director Greg Clarks idea was to shoot the dancers at 1000fps and then in post overlay lots of Cg fire onto them so it looked like they had been set alight. Featuring the magnificent Phoenix dancers and the technical expertise of the production team and collaborators Uber, Ink Films and VTR North.

The project took just over a year to complete with about 6 months of that being me sat in my room creating and rendering the fire in Maya. I had never even opened Maya before . it was a pleasure to be able to work with such talented dancers

Programs Used - Maya, After Effects and Premiere

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get people to watch it and give critique. I am very glad you enjoyed it though

NOTE: Before reading know these are pretty nit-picky comments. But the video is of high quality, and its all the feed back i can give.

The fire didnt look quite right. I think there was too much density to the detail in the flames. I couldnt really see the individual tongues of fire licking at the air as an arm or leg swooshed through the frame. It made the flame feel more solid, and less etherial in nature. It lacked some of that whispy feeling.

Also I really disliked the music selection, electronic-y dubstep didn't feel like the right choice for something so organic, it took me out of the mood.

Well done.
