Red face Texture Problem with importet FBX-file

Hi guys,

I am using Max for some time now and it works fine to me.

Now for the first time I have to use a model that was provided to me. It is a Lightwave-file and the same as a FBX-file conversion.

So I imported the FBX and now I want to add materials to the objects, and there comes my problem. It doesn't work as expected.

For demonstration see the following picture:

There is the tempelish object (yellow), thats part of the FBX. And besides that is a box that was created inside Max. I added the material to the box-object for comparison - that works fine.

Material on Max-object

But when I try to add the material to the tempelish object from the FBX, I get kind of following result (and other results when I try various things, but never what I want):

Material on FBX-object

As I am only familar with texturing inside Max build objects, I might overlook something or do something completely wrong!?

Maybe someone could give me some tip, what the problem might be?

(It doesnt show in the picture, but "Views -> activate all maps" is set, as well as the "show map in viewport"-Dialog in the Material Editor).

Thank you very much,

Daniel
