nParticles aren't going away anytime soon. I'm leaning towards BiFrost replacing Maya Fluids, IMO I would strictly use BiFrost for fluids, I wouldn't touch Maya Fluids, same with I'm not a fan of Paint Effects, fortunately we have XGen.

I wouldn't bank on a ICE replacing coming anytime soon, maybe in the future.

Here we go again with that old bug. Gone a whole year.

I think for now Bifrost can not compete with Maya fluids.
Paint FX has some common things with Xgen, but they have 2 different functions (how would you model a tree in Xgen?)

Haha! Reminds me of a real pet peeve I have with Maya...

Start Maya
Open a scene
Save scene
Save scene again
"no changes to save" <- it doesn't actually save your file here.

Unfortunately there's certain things you can do to your scene where Maya thinks nothing has changed, like changing the Timerange in the Timebar. As an animator, this is super annoying for me since I have to do something like rotate the viewport so it will save my new Timerange adjustment.

There are two threads here and a third in news active about 2016, already split across new features, general banter, and what works/doesn't.
Closing this one to avoid too much fragmentation of info.
