Exclamation ANATOMY FORUM GUIDE - The definitive version! PLEASE READ if you are new!

ANATOMY FORUM GUIDE - The definitive version!

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all threads on the Anatomy Forum, but it is meant to give you an idea of where to start. Please feel free to post any questions you may have here!

For those completely new to digital painting, I highly recommend working in grayscale to familiarize yourself with values and how they work to create form. Especially initially, a solid understanding of value is far more important than an understanding of color.

For more advanced painters, but an excellent source of inspiration, and podcasts!:

Hop in and just start drawing. Giving yourself a time limit helps you to break away from mental blocks and just enjoy the process:

*Please note that Photobucket is only used as an example in the above tutorial. You may also use your own webhost or other image host, such as www.imageshack.us. Please note that many of these imagehosts, including Photobucket and imageshack, do not allow nude images of any kind, however artistic, to be hosted.

Please note that for all new members to CGTalk, the first 2 posts must be manually validated by a moderator. While you should not have to wait long, this can take up to 24 hours. If your posts continue not to show up, please contact me by pm (private message) - to send a pm, left click over a username and select "send private message":

Digital Painting: Tips and Techniques for Beginners
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthr...?f=199&t=369421

You are highly discouraged from using a mouse to paint digitally - if you are going to be doing any amount of digital painting, please do yourself a favor and purchase a drawing tablet of some kind - a Wacom Intuos is preferable but the Graphire is cheaper, though less pressure sensitive. It is fine especially to get started with. There are also other brands of tablets which are cheaper, but the Wacoms are the best. Run a search on the forums and you will find many threads related to Tablet questions.

The most effective method for getting feedback is by creating a Personal Sketchbook Thread. These can contain 2D and / or 3D imagery, so long as it is related to human / animal / creature studies / anatomy. The more you participate and post replies to others work, the more replies you will get in return, so it pays to be active! You will find the community here to be very encouraging, so even if you are new, it is okay to post your work. There are also many experienced artists on the forum who can give you encouragement and advice.

Anyone is free to participate in the Tutorials and Workshops we run on the Anatomy Forum. In addition, you are welcome to create your own Tutorials, they are always welcome. Please just create your own thread and call it TUTORIAL - What It's About - by Your Name. Permission is not required to create a Tutorial. However, please contact me by pm or email if you wish to create and run a Workshop. Workshops on the forum typically last around 1 month, and are free and open to anyone's participation.
