Forgotten Forest, Jesus Fernandez Calderon (3D)

Submitted: 9th September 2013

Forgotten Forest, was a personal project, and this was the result, the final model has 78 millions of polygons, everything on the image is 3d, rendered in MR. Most of the plants are paintfx, the trees were done with onyx tree and speedtree, and all the ivy with ivy generator. you can see the process here.

Thumbs up Amazing detail and realism

I've been working on different grass and tree scenes for a WIP animation, and my hats off to you sir.

That is some incredible work, thanks for sharing that with us! Great Job!

Probably one of the best grass/forest scenes I've seen done using paintFx. Awesome job

Im also working right now on my 3D gallery I already have the paintfx gallery and almost 32 animated trees

Final Tutorial

After long days of work finally the tutorial of Forgotten Forest is done!

It took more of 145 screenshots and 97 images on the file, its a step by step process to achieve the final result! and now here is the tutorial with you guys!

also one question , how on earth did you manage to render this? 78 million polys? you must have stacks of Ram..

awe struck..

p.s. (just looked at the tutorial! )

how many hours for the render?

Hi Groovetube, with this instancing and proxy technique I just ise 3 gb of ram for the full render, it took at 2k nearly 8 hours, as they are proxys you can manage billions of polygons with just the necesary ram

thanks buddy.. i have a heavy scene also so i will try out the instancing method , i used it once b4 when following along with Alex Alvarez's tutorials on creating foilage /trees etc. I havent tried the proxy one yet though..
