Question A Drowning noob...Needs a Ray Of Sunshine

Short and Sweet.

I am a complete noob to texturing / modelling.

I wish to make a mod for skyrim which I wish to have custom models and textures.

I wish to be able to texture models i make in zbrush (or 3dsmax but mostly zbrush).

But after spending a month on tutorials on .dds files etc. Im still lost.

There are so many layers thrown around. UV mapping. Bump Maps. Normal Maps. Specular Maps. Diffuse Maps. Alpha Channels. Baking AO. Baking this baking that.

Could someone please help me out. What are the layers in order that are needed for a game texture for a game such as skyrim (or in general). And how to properly texture complex 3d models. (I mean stuff more then a cube or something simple...) and if there is anyway to have the 3d models verticies or something be used to help me texture (to have a general idea how the texture applies instead of just texturing blind.)

Thank you so much all ye kind sirs for your time and answers

Good Day
