WIP: Bad-Ass Soldier

This work is for an up-comping game, Illumina, currently in beta development. It will be a futuristic multiplayer fps built on the Torque engine.

I'm using Nevercenter's Silo for all modeling.

Comments and critiques are very welcome. Particularly any critiques on the proportions would be very appreciated (I want to make any corrections to the mesh now, before starting the texturing process). Thanks!

Note: I've yet to make attachments such as radio, air tank, ammo packs, etc.

He's looking excellent so far. It must be very nice to be able to translate a drawing to something very recognizable in the low poly control mesh...

Rabid, can you see the images now?


Made the helmet rounder, less Vader-esque. Lessened the folds at the knee of the pants slightly. Extended the thighs slightly. Added radio and ammo packs.

Starting UV layout and texturing now.

Any comments/suggestions??

i like it

1. excellent concept images
2. great modeling

1. the only thing i would comment on is i really like the armor in the sketches, how the shoulders are huge and bulky like football gear, i think the characters sillouette is more intimidating in the sketch... it seems to have lost that in the model. my 2 cents.

great job though, i'll be following this

nice concept and modeling, only crit is that the head is placed much lower in the drawings than in the model, the shoulder pads should be almost placed higher than the head for a more gruntish look.

I dont know why but I still dont see any images..... Really wierd. I am using firefox could that be it? I see images in other post on cgtalk. Did you use the insert image button when making the thread?

Ok this was making me insane. I figured out after it loaded in explorer what the problem was. And after another thread wasnt loading pictures. The server you have these images at(http://img.photobucket.com) somehow was blocked by firefox... Don't know why but I unblocked them.

So now I finally see these images. Really nice character I would say the poly version is a bit different from the concept sketches, his shoulders sit lower than concept drawings. Sort of reminds me of the hl2 gaurds a bit.
