Please help!

Good afternoon,

Iīve been messing around with ZBrush lately and tried exporting a Vector Displacement Map into Maya 2012. I succeeded in setting up the actual shader inside Maya, so it renders in Mental Ray, but Iīve got UV Problems - probably stemming from not exporting correctly from ZBrush. I heard there are certain setting for Maya Export and following this link:

It still doesnīt render correctly. I donīt seem to be able to find the "Swith 11" Button.

Can anyone help ?? Or does anyone have the exact and easy to follow setting for Maya Export? Iīm using ZBrush 4R5.

I have no idea what that means.^^

As said, you probably need to flip the image vertically in an image editing program like Photoshop after export.

Flipping

Ezekiel and AJ: Yes, I flipped it in all kinds of different directions. But I still donīt get the desired image on render time. The geometry is behaving strangely and looks very weird.

I wish there would be a solution to this. Mudbox does it semmlessly. Not ZBrush. All I know is, there are some specific "Maya export" settings that counts from within ZBrush. But which ones - I havenīt found anywhere...

Hey man,

Could you post a few screen grabs of your problem? Did you export your normal map in tangent space?

Hey AJ,

Sure, hereīs a render. But I think you misunderstand my challenges, Sir.

Iīm working with 32-Bit Vector displacement maps. Not normal maps.

I saw online yesterday that just working with Displacement maps can cause a lot of trouble in Maya. They even have to use the approximation editor to make things look right. Still havenīt figured out for the 32-bit Vector Displacement maps yet though.

But I think thereīs a lot of hidden knowledge out there...

Ps:

Would be really cool if someone out there could post a complete (and working) workflow for the whole process, coming from a high-res model in ZBrush - to a final and working reder in Maya. Containing both settings IN ZBrush for 32-bit VDM maps, export settings, shader setup in Maya and the last tweaks to make the whole thing look right.
