Importing Xfrog xfr files problem

I bought the whole plant library and the C4D Xfrog plugin, thinking this would be a powerful toolset. But I'm having awful problems importing the xfr files that come in the bundles.

Some load fine. But many cause awful crashes that even Force Quit doesn't rescue. I have to shut the Mac down and restart. Some files load without materials. I have no idea which xfrs will cause crashes - do I need to test the whole lot? That would take forever.

I'm on R14 latest with OS 10.7. Plugin version is the one before the latest (as advised by Xfrog) but I've also initially tried the latest version which was no better or worse.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I don't own the complete xfrog library, but i tried a random .xfr file, and can confirm that it did freeze up c4d to the point where force-quit was useless. I am not sure about the proper way of opening xfr files - are they supposed to open in c4d? I have only ever used the .c4d files of the xfrog libraries, and never had any problems with those.

I am running xfrog 5.0.2 and c4d R14 on OSX 10.8.3

I had no idea there were c4d files in the library. I'll ask Xfrog. It seems a real shame that so many if not most of the xfr files are useless in c4d at this point.
