Welcome and Few Questions
Hey guys im starting my adventure in 3d modelling in college and we are required to use Softimage XSI throughout the course. I was sick most of the year and we didnt have any nontes given to us so i missed every single lecture and since i have so little time to hand in my projects, im determined and motivated to pass this year even if i have to repeat in summer.
But less talk more action. Im not asking you guys to do this stuff for me and please dont, although some links/screenshots of your own would be more then welcome. We are required to create 3 things :
Sting sword from LOTR
Our own initiative and design for:
Fantasy weapon ( not a gun just a 3d model - i already have few sketches which i did in the hospital)
And design a gun which also will have a brief animation ( Im thinking of doing a mix between Portal's Glados eye and TF 2 Sentry Gun )
Right so for now im actually stuck with tutorials, cash and knowledge how to do these things.
Im trying to create the sting (LINK ) and i cant simply understand how would i create the cross guard (The object between the handle and the blade). I'm thinking to create a a Cone and move the points in such a matter it would create a curve, or if there is a possibility try to put the image as a rotoscope and somehow trace that part and extrude it/cut it in a cube? but i understand its hard because it has to be 3 dimensional. I've been trying to find some free ebooks, tutorials and such but as xsi mod tool is for most of people a shadow of history there is none :/. I want to finish first thing and if i will know how i can do the curves and extrude them , and such i think i will be able to finish the other 2 projects in no time.
