Smile Horse Mane and Ribbons

I'm trying to make an animated version of this footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Awo-P3t4Ho (watch from 35:26-35:36). The horse gallops through 24 ribbons and its mane is blown back and bouncing the entire time. Finding tutorials on making a horse gallop was easy, but what about the animal cutting the ribbons and its mane? What systems (Plug-ins?) are used to control these? I'm not sure where to start...

Any help appreciated

Guess you could do this within maya, without plug-ins. See attached maya file for a quick test. Im using ncloth and nhair.

Maya Bullet system

I just figured out some weird things may be this time wrong also i came to notice Bullet runs fine but until you go for freeze transformations the Pivot or transform nodes of bullet works fine for <<000>> .only.

Talking Wow

@NKLS

The generosity shown in these forums never ceases to amaze me. I'll pick this apart and try it with my horse.

Many thanks!
