Stretchy IK/FK - Blending Techniques?

I was wondering if people would be so kind to share their experiences on how to hook up the blending part of an ik-fk switching arm if there is stretching on either or both of the fk and ik underlying arms. Simply using position and orientation constraints on the blend bones doesn't work very well as I'm getting a misalignment of the blend bones through the intermediate blend stage. I was thinking that I'd likely have to create a set of point helpers that do the orientation/position blending and assign position and lookat constraints to the blending bones that use the point helpers. But that seems a bit convoluted. So I'm wondering if there's something that I've not thought of that might be simpler.

Well I would also like to know something about that... but it seems it is closely guarded secret...

I've got it working. But always interested in seeing how other people have it working too. I made sure the stretch control was being passed to all 3 sets of bones and just used orientation constraints to do the blend. Seemed like the simplest way to do it.
