Vray for C4D 3.4 - Fur Questions

Hey folks!

I had the chance to get a sneak peek at the Vray for C4D Render Engine, but I found that it lacked some features:

I wasn't able to us textures or vertexmaps to define the hair clumping. crink or visibility - is that a non implemented feature for Vray?

Could some of the users confirm this or point me to work arounds?

Thanks for help!

KR

Hi

Vray is the render engine part of it so it deals with the surface properties only. Vray 3.5 comes with 2 hair materials, but in both cases the clumping, grooming are made with the hair tag, and hair material native to C4D Studio. The Vray hair tag goes onto the hair object. If you dont own Studio then Vray hair is of little use to you.

I use Vray4c4d 3.6 and the hair a great deal together, the hair density, thickness, clumping e,c,t are a native part of C4D and have nothing to do with Vray. Vray just renders the hair it does not make it, groom it, or style it.

Now if we are talking about fur, this is a different thing to hair. The Fast Fur object has many features and you can control density which effects the visibility, and length via a vertex map. You have a clump value in which a vertex map can go in there, and a clump spline for clump control. For styling there is no map control. You can have multiple Fast fur objects using multiple vertex maps from the same object to get variation in different polygon locations. I dont use the vray fur myself. Because Im using vray 3.6 there may be more that Im seeing than what you have in 3.4.

ask us in the vrayforc4d forum please. as user you have a free account there

V-Ray supports full Maxon hair with all features it has, with hair clumping by texture, crink (all hait tex settings), root tip color/transparency , sampling from base color, etc and all hair settings
