Replacement for AVTtool (align to vector) in R14

Hi,

There's an indispensable old plugin called AVTtool that no longer works in R14.

Apart from snapping points to a bunch of guides, does anyone know if there's a functioning equivalent / plugin for R14 at the moment?

Cheers/ Alex

Are you on Windows or MacOS? I have just rebuilt AVT for C4D R14 on Windows but it will be a bit of a slugfest to build on MacOS (need to install Xcode 4.2 and so forth). It appears to be working - though this code is not my own so it appears to be working as before but not completely sure.

Hi Robert,

I'm on a Mac.
In some modeling situations AVT is a lifesaver. Wonderful little tool
Really miss it :/

I miss it too :(

The two workarounds I've been using are:

1 Using the guide tool and vertex snap to place a guide that passes through the 2 end points and then use guide snapping to snap the intermediate points. This is quite a lot like using ATV.

2 For simple shapes you can sometimes use the scale tool, set the modelling axis to orientation = normal and -100% in Z then scale the selected points to 0% in Z and Y (you can do both axis at the same time by holding shift and scaling on the X axis). Releasing and then re-pressing shift while scaling will let you snap the scaling to 0%.

There might be a smart way to do the same thing with dynamic guides, if there is I'd love to hear it.

cheers

SockGardener..
I like your workaround nr: 1.
...albeit a few extra mouse clicks but it gets the job done.
Thanks

It will be a great update to align some points only on one or two axis, not always on the 3 axis.
But one of my favorite plugin !

The Plugin reacts on Your Global Cinema Axis restriction in the Default top Icon Bar.
X Y Z
As far as I know its only Global Axis Values but perhaps its enough to get you going.

Kind regards
