How to bake nonlinear deformations into mesh

This is a very noob question, but I am making a rocky tunnel with twists and turns in it; I added a nonlinear bend deformer to the mesh I created and I now want to basically remove the deformer and leave just the geometry. Is there a way to essentially bake the deformer into the mesh?

I discovered that if I duplicate the mesh, I get what I was looking for but I'd rather learn the correct way to do this.

Delete all history on the object.

I actually did try that and it did not work. I was surprised.

That's a strange case then. I tested it and deleting history indeed worked.

Hmm, so ideally would this also work for the soft modification tool and "baking" the deformations into the mesh aswell?
