@Skyraider3D: Thanks buddy!

@fabriciomarvin: Thanks glad you like my work!

Just a small ping to keep this thread from being auto-closed. Working on an environment in which this bird will be used (among other things) while working on the cokcpits too.

It is a great looking model! I keep checking the progress from time to time and only hope the Universe still exist when this helicopter model will be finished.

This is a huge, gorgeous model! I wonder how many millions of polygons have turned out?

Awesome Job, best helicopters on this site! Quick question: If you model your helicopter in individual panels, and texture in photoshop, how do you avoid texture continuity issues? For instance the main camouflage pattern and stains needing to continue on on the next panel.

@Vipera: Thnaks and yes one day it will be done Just hard to find time between job, my other huge personal project and having a life...

@Anton3DSkit: Thanks glad to read you like it so far. Actually it is not that heavy. They whole helicopter with textures displayed still goes at some 40-50 fps in the viewport.

@doeseph: Thanks!

@DarkMizu: Yeah the texture work is a lot, maybe even more than modeling... Will be around 100 8k x 8k maps in the end or more.

@sgtsam: Thanks! I basically have each part separate, just like the real bird gets built in the factory. Makes things a lot easier and manageable. Texturing happened in photoshop and partly in mari. Depending on how you lay out the UVs the camo pattern isn't that much of an issue but sometimes it was a bit tricky.

It's hard these days to find time for this mega project beside my full-time vfx job, having a fiance, two dogs, a life in general and another huge personal project which is the entire White House complex including East & West wing (every single ornament, door handle etc etc) plus the entire garden surrounding it. Research is tricky sometimes and I am building all trees and bushes from scratch too to match the real types of plants somewhat closely. The bit of time i found over the last months went mostly into that to finally wrap the White House up and call it a day, freeing time and attention up for this bird. As some might have noticed, i am also remodeling older parts of the helicopter I am no longer satisfied with. Standards change over time.
I also have some ideas of bringing the Mi-24 and the White House together in some scenarios
Stay tuned and thanks for checking into this stone-age old thread!
