How do I Repopulate my Timeline?

I had a thriving timeline, as every good project does. But somehow I pressed the wrong button, and now it's completely empty - even though I have keyframed objects in my scene. Even when I drag and drop animated objects into the timeline, it remains empty. Tried restarting Cinema; didn't work. I just want my my timeline back.

R18.057; Windows 10

Settings; I've tried 'Unhide all', but that doesn't seem to work.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Luke

I somehow managed to get *some* items back in the timeline (see below - many don't have keyframes at all, and others I've never ever seen in my timeline before). But when I drag & drop the items that I actually really need to adjust in the timeline, they don't appear, and the timeline just removes all the items.

I've had that happen before. Try closing your timeline (if its docked, remove it) and then re-add it.

Are you using takes? If so:

Yeah, I tried that as well, no dice.

As for takes, I run into that issue a lot, so I know my workarounds there. Just to be sure though, I deleted by takes, and the issue remains.

Here's a torn down scene file, if anyone wants to debug - just a camera with keys.

found it:
open the timeline and go to the top right and click on the closed eye icon.
You should see a tree on the left.
The camera has the eye visibility OFF.

Make sure "Automatic Mode" is active and "Show Animated" is turned off.

Also, I've found that a good nuclear solution is to go to bookmarks > default bookmark which should reset it.

The Nose knows! That did it. Thank you!

This quirk ranks right up there with the region tool & accidentally clicking that filmstrip icon that turns off animation.

what I find fascinating is what I said doesn't make sense in any other context unless it's a Narnia sequel movie.
"Look at the window and touch the eye. A tree will appear looking at a camera......"
I was having dreams about windows and eyes :-)

Or double nuclear, copy and paste to a new project ;-)

Yeah, that was a last resort for this particular project. I had several takes setup, and have found it to be a pain trying to copy & paste scenes with takes.

Plus, I really wanted to figure out the source of the problem so that I could fix it in the future if it happened again.
