HCR #41 Heroes of Saturday Morning-Dragon's Lair (1984-1985)

Dragon's Lair is a short-lived television cartoon series by Ruby-Spears Productions based on the 1983 video game of the same name. Thirteen half-hour episodes were produced from 1984[1]1985,[2] airing on ABC. Between the late '80s and the early '90s, the show was rerun on the USA Cartoon Express, and has also aired on Boomerang.

I was a big fan of the cartoon and the game when I was a kid.

I've been trying to figure out how to get the images to show up here in the forum. It doesn't seem to work what ever I do. If you right click the little box you can bring my photo bucket up and take a look. If someone wants to give me a hand on how to post the pics, that would be great.

for an image you need a .JPG or .PNG or .GIF extension

you link a page.. It doesnt work

you should use the IMG link on the page.. on the right side there's a sidebar IMG, click on it it copy the link. then click here on the IMG thumbnail and paste the link

My references posted at last.

Hello,
Thanks for the help in getting my images posted. I haven't decided if I will do one character or a little scene and spin it. I'll see where my work takes me. I love Don Bluth and wish the cartoon was more true to his artwork. I would like to create something that shows tribute to the style and talent of Don Bluth.

Nice choice. I was originally going to do this one myself. I remember being utterly mesmerised as a child when I first saw the Dragon's lair laser disc arcade game.

Loved Dragon's Lair. Are you going for the slightly risque arcade version or the toned down cartoon version?

Like everyone else that was around when this game came out I was either the person playing and the crowed watching or in the crowd watching waiting for my quarter to come up. Back then I really didn't realize how toned down it was. I was so stoked that I could watch it at home.

I'm thinking about taking a scene from the show and do it in the more risque style. I want to be true to the Don Bluth style. I just hope I can pull it off.

I still play it on my PS3. I would like to get the old Arcade Cabinet Restored when we get a bigger place. I was also thinking about doing Thundarr the Barbarian. I loved that cartoon and don't know to many people who know of it would love to see a Tundarr come back lol

Loved Dragons Lair. It would be great if you can find the original chara sheets for this. Bluth's style was where its at. Even the dragon in your ref looks bloated and out of shape..

Yea, I have a lot more references then what I posted. I have the actual drawings from the games concept art done by Don Bluth. I plan to post some shots of my work in the next few day's. I'm glad my subject has garnered interest. Tough to work on something so many people are fond of. I will try and do a good job and do justice to Don Bluth.
