Best way to integrate art department into pipeline?

Hi everyone. I need some advice and would appreciate any suggestion.

On the 3D side, since Maya/Nuke can run Python, I don't have much problem having Python took care of most stuff from file location, version tracking to naming convention.

But how would I go about enforcing similar system to the art department using Photoshop/Sai/Painter and various other apps? How is it usually done in production pipeline?

In the various studios I have working in there as has been various approaches. However, the fact is there is to be real value to encourage others to use the same process. Often what works for one person does not work for another. Often what I have seen when the "boss" says this is how you must do something, everyone agrees and it lasts for a while. Then slowly it gets forgotten. So my point is that whatever processes you would like to see introduced into your pipe it should encourage others to use it not because they are told to, but because it makes their life easier. Anyway, that is my two cents. Hope that answers your question.
