I personally did not like it, thought the movie was too long for what the 3rd act had to offer and thought that the hole Morgan Freeman and his minions story arc could have been completely scrapped. But if you decide to keep it don't show it in the trailers or on the posters!!! One hour in the movie and I was only thinking "when is Freeman going to show?" because I had it in my mind that he is in the movie. I hate it when that happens.

Stunning visuals, but a pool up there? Cmooooooon!

Thanks. I knew this was out there somewhere, but the new search system doesn't appear to let me choose a specific forum or sort by subject/body text and I could not find it.

It's interesting to note that Oblivion was originally conceived as a small independent film, before it got "upgraded" into Summer Main Feature.

I think some of the problems came with the requirement to increase the scale of the picture. I remember looking at Oblivion and thinking: "This is the first time I've seen anyone attempt to tell a story about an Apocalyptic/Alien Invasion, but only using so few characters."

You just have Jack Harper, Vika, Sally, Julie, and Morgan Freeman... That's it.

I imagine you'd have the same problem if "Moon" were similarly upgraded and had to become a Summer tentpole film. Suddenly you need to talk about "more"... and you still have "just a guy on the moon" to tell it with.
