I've managed to do various things Yesterday and Today, among others:

-Added more streaking dirt to the wings/fuselage/tailplane
-Broke up the paint-chipping on the wing
-Balanced old specular detail
-Added mud splatter to the undercarriage and surfaces near the wheels
-Added leaks/oil on the cowling
-Added more exhaust streaks on the top half of the nose
-Started a "sand" layer on the undercarriage

Currently the colour/spec maps are half their full resolution to make it easy for my laptop, bump map is rendered at the full resolution.

That is all on the planning, but as I'm temporarily on an ancient system the work is not going as fast as I want, thanks for the reminder though!

After all this time I can finally call this model truly finished. Today I took care of the final texture fixes on my planning and this is it.

I'll make some beauty renders soon, these are to show the finished textures and model from various angles in relative close-up.

Enjoy!

And of course a shiny new plane is nothing without a pilot so I've copied my 1939 Panzer Crewmember model and started outfitting it like a USAAF pilot.
Currently he still has some old German gear on like the trousers and boots, but the rest is newly fitted US quality gear

I'm planning on putting most of the detail in the textures, not the model as they very rarely will be seen up close.

The pilot looks like perfect for moving it into zbrush and put some nice wrinkles onto all the clothes. You put so much detail into the cockpit so the guy needs to keep up

Cheers

Great job Joep! I agree with Andre regarding the pilot, a nice pass in ZBrusch would be perfect.
Also I'm shaping my pilot in Zbrush

Thanks guys!

I'll finish some more details first in 3DsMax before I move it into Z-brush, he needs proper trousers, boots, oxygen mask and some bits and bobs here and there.

Ok, modelling nearly done now. Changed the trousers and modelled the oxygen mask. Just some minor cables left and some small work on the boots.

After that it's UV time and then rigging. I'll do the Z-brush pass after I pose him. The textures I might do before.

Thanks

UV's are finished now.

-Put on the basic colour shades of the uniform.
-Started finding the *maximum* reflective values of each part of the uniform.
-Started on a nicer background.

After some experimenting I started sculpting up details in Z-brush. This will currently only be "permanent" features like small creases and folds, labels etc.
I will do an actual displacement pass once I pose the model later on after rigging.
