Customize brushes?

Is it possible to customize brushes, much like in Photoshop, to achieve a certain result with fewer strokes that it would take to just do it all by hand? To add a degree of randomness to z intensity, alpha orientation, draw size etc. It would make it so much easier to do things like edge wear on hard surface objects and scars and scar tissue on biological sculpts, for example.

I'm thinking using spray with any type of brush you want.

Create a brush and make whatever setting changes you want then turn on spray for the stroke?
