Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -2D to CG

I'm trying to find a CG message board that has as much interaction as the RIP XSIBase had. You can't learn and evolve if you don't get any feed back

Modelling since 1999. Felt I needed to evolve. So as an endurance test, one person, one episode, one big tribute. It took me 1.2 years to get all scenes done. The first ten minutes where rushed. when it looked like I might get it done, I slowed down to refine a little halfway through.

Now that project is finished, it's time to go back and fix things.

i like seeing the progression, it's nice to see your skills improve. The best advice I can give you is to keep striving to improve. You're moving at a good pace so just keep at it!

Overall, that's a ton of work you got there. Good stuff. My only criticism is the quality of the actual animation. I think you could benefit from finding a willing animator to animate the characters for you, or alternatively, improve your skills in that area to match up with the rest.

it would be nice to have a mentor... as it is, I've been trying to do it since the way it's been done since the 20's... trial and error.

same goes for backgrounds..sometimes reproducing things asthey where in 89, things do not look good in CGI. So you have to modernize it a little..



all a learning process..

It's an impressive amount of work for someone to take on alone and your progress is inspiring to see. As mentioned the animation itself is the most lacking portion, the movement is inconsistent as a whole where it feels some shots got substantial attention and others were just a few keyframes to get the main movement in without polish. The characters lose the feeling of being alive when they are frozen into a keyframe without subtle moving holds. Easy to learn or share on here for input though, the scale of work you posted is far too much to seek improvement on at once though.

I suggest working a shot at a time, maybe something as short as a few seconds so that you can really see the level of detail that can go into an animation. Also if you haven't picked up books yet, look for "The Animator's Survival Kit" it will help you understand the movement and technique that creates great animation. Thanks for sharing and keep at it, your posts are clear examples that working hard at a task creates improvement over time.
