Some basic keyframe help!

My problem is. Whenever I use a keyframe, rotations go with the keyframe, but position. So if i put a keyframe 10 units away, 5 frames later, put it 20 units away. My object will always be standing 20 units away, and rotations will stay. Not sure what it is. I have no tags on anything, tried to make it as simple as possible (only a simple cube) and that's it! I have C4DR13 Studio btw.

Hey C4DLearner,

could you please tell us how you're trying to set keyframes?
There are several ways in Cinema 4D to accomplish this task.

If you're trying to set keyframe via the keyframe button in the Animation Toolbar make sure that the Rotation option is on (3rd option from the left with the blue background).

The other way to set keyframes is via the Dots in front of a Parameter.
You can set them by ctrl left clicking on them or right click and add keyframe.

Ciao

Sascha

Are you placing keyframes automatically or manually?

Remember that you have to have a starting keyframe and if you don't move the object on the starting frame, it won't get a keyframe for the position attribute, if you're placing automatic keyframes. So, force a starting keyframe by adding the first keyframe manually for both position and rotation. That way you make sure that a key is placed for both on the first frame. For manual keyframing, the same obviously applies.

Well first off, I use the key thingy:

And secondly, when I click on my object, I do have a starting keyframe. And blah blah. But here's something more weird, I created a new project, and did the same exact thing, but the object moved. Maybe it was happening because I was using a lightroom/template? Not sure.

But one thing is for sure: C4D is confusing for me.
