where is the button he is pressing in this video in the shelf located?

2:16. Once he's got his skeleton perfectly placed, he presses a button on a custom shelf to map all of them correctly. Where is this button in the menus?

Smooth Bind.
Under Animation menu, go to 'Skin' "Bind Skin", Smooth Bind, and hold down control and shift at the same time, and click the "option" square button to put it on your shelf.
And since he selected the root bone, choose "Joint Hierarchy", and Bind method to "Heat".

second question: Is he doing IK or FK skeletons?

I'm not very familiar with this system. If it works like most rigs there should be a switch. Mirror bones stopped working for me so i gave up on it last night.
