Rough Storyboards or 3D pre-visualization: The Stone-01

I've been away for a while but I've not been idle, (well not too idle). This is my idea for "The Stone", the asteriod. Its to scale, 291km long and 92km accross at its widest. The textures are a colour chanel, a colour highlight chanel, bump and displacement maps and several layers of fractle noise. The end caps have a similar texture with an alpha map to blend out the edges.
C & C welcome.

Rough Storyboards or 3D pre-visualization: The Stone-13

A few render passes to follow. These are rendering out at PAL1 720 x 576 in under 2 min. I'm running Lightwave 9 with the AA set to PLD7 passes and using the Mitchell reconstruction filter. I think this is a good enough quality for now but motion blured sections will need more passes.
C & C welcome

More to come ....

I have also been working on the Russian Heavy Lifter (based the design on the energia concept) Google it I'll upload some tests soon. And I took a break from the Asteriod interiors as I was running into atmosphere problems but I may have a solution soon.

hey cyphyr that stone is almost perfect! Only thing to suggest to be constructive would be to try and desaturate a little bit more the material, just to see if it gets more realistic.
Just tried here and bringing the saturation down a little gave it realism. But that's a matter of taste, of course, and we could be wrong...anyway...
Keep up the good work!

The Asteroid looks very nice. I think the bands look a little too strong though. Other then that, looking forward to seeing where else you take this.
