Is Cleanup in MB better than what I already have access to?

Hi Everyone, I'm hoping to hear your thoughts.

I am a long-time 3ds Max user. I have experience cleaning mocap in Character studio Biped.

Now, I just got a project with a lot of Mocap cleanup, and I'm considering using Motionbuilder to do it. I'm under the impression that MB has better cleanup tools than Max, however my research doesn't seem to be turning up much help.

I am primarily looking for sliding feet and jitter reduction. I thought this would be an automated process with parameters, but in the samples I saw it was all done by hand. If that's the case, I'll just stick to cleanup in Max.

Can anyone give some advice, or point me in the right direction? Is Motionbuilder worth my time to learn, given my high comfort-level with mocap cleanup in Max?

Thanks for any fedback guys!

Mocap Cleaning

If you want to clean up optical data, The VICON BLADE is the Best, If you have access to it. But if you want to correct sliding feet and jitter reduction for bones, You can use "Floor Contact" in "Chracter Settings" section and experiment with different kind of filters for jitter reduction. As you said, There is no automated tool or pipeline in MoBu which is easy to go. In my experience, For a clean result, You should do it by hand either in MAX or MoBu.

I see.

Well, since Max has no "feet contact" option, that seems like one point in favor of MB. Not sure if it's enough to warrant learning it.

Thanks YKarbaschi
