Start of my study.

Well after some pretty nasty comments my art prof made to me at the end of the quarter I didn't really want to even think about drawing again. Then my brain kicked in and that would make him win... which just isn't going to happen. So it's time to get serious...again.

afgal,

I am sorry to hear that your art teacher discouraged you. That often happens, whether it's intentional or not, and it can be tough to get back into the game, but I am glad to see that you have.

These two are a good direction in which to go ~ the more Master Copies, the better, imo. I like the articulation around the feet, and hope to see similar drawings in this vein.

Cheers,

Here we go. The first one. Not happy with how it turned out though.

afgal,

Nice to see your start here. I would recommend trying either pencil or ballpoint pen ~ I think you will be able to get much more subtlety with a different medium. This exercise is a great way to experiment, try new things, and get past the fear of doing a lot of studies. Looking forward to seeing much more of your work.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

afgal,

Nice to see your new sketch!

I hope the following Tutorial might be of use to you, since it's about using ballpoint pen for shading:
