Problem with vertex normal/soften edge in Maya (actual bug)

I recently installed maya 2013, and while I was trying to bake a Hi-Res version of my mesh on a Low-Res, I've noticed a bug that I was easily able to reproduce on a cube :

When I take a simple cube, soften the edges and scale the cube in one axis to compress it I get something weird :

When I look at the vertex normal, they are not placed as I would expect (45 angle) :

It's not only a view port problem because the strange artifact appears in my normal map baking and it looks the same on a render (mental ray or maya)

I tried to delete my preferences and to reinstall maya 2013. I even reinstalled maya 2012, but the same thing happen. I have use maya for over 3 years now and never encounter this problem on my computer...

I'm thinking about formatting my computer...

Anyone here has any idea of what could cause this, software or hardware?

I have a i7 950 3.07GHz, an Nvidia 580 gtx, and i'm running on windows 7 64-bit

Thanks in advance!
