Various types of render passes for fluids
I have a question about varous render passes for effects like fire, explosions, smoke and dust.
I understand that there are RGB passes. Looking at the Gnonom DVD from Wayne hollingsworth, he has done a light scattering pass for the smoke, as well as a beauty pass. I also understand that you can isolate the heat from an explosion too. The thing is that sometimes I run across a video that has a different kind of passes that I cant figure out the use for.

The second to last video looks like he has passes, like in the last video with Fume FX. SO i guess my question is, how do you do this temperature pass in Maya? What are those grey passes for the smoke density? And are there other passes that I havent mentioned that can be helpful? Im getting into Maya fluids alot more, and I would like to know more about what I can do with it in the composting stage.

you have color gradients on the fluid shape node, go into the gradient and make it RGB instead of red to orange. render that.
nothing magical about it.
