How do you push and pull verts in a single direction in Zbrush?

sorry of the n00b question, i've been over the internet looking for how to push and pull verts in one direction but i havent found anything.

i'm making a terrain right now and i need to detail it, in order to generate a good height map i must only sculpt in the vertical direction and i dont know how to modify my brush to do that, it keeps sculpting along the vertex normal or the camera.

i am able to do this in mudbox but my crappy computer is too slow when it zooms in too far so that's why i decide to use zbrush.

any help or links to instructions would be greatly appreciated.

zbrush has a terrai3d
1convert it to a polymesh3d
2tool>surface add some noise
3divide the mesh
4apply to mesh(tool>surface apply to mesh )
5 tool>masking(mask by peaks and valley (may want to invert)
6 brush>transpose, now you can move the verts in a direction
