extruding faces in maya and keeping both top and bottom cap/closed
When extruding a face in maya i havent found a way to keep the botom cap on. in other words when i do my extrude i dont whant a hole i whant both sides filld.I know differents work arounds but the model Im working on now would really speed up my workflow with this function enabled if it exists.Any thoughts?

You want something that is an extremely bad idea. Under no circumstance do you need this kind of thing. If you need something like this, you just extrude the entire mesh, to give thickness, so you have a back facing side and a front facing side.
You can have in Maya exactly what you ask, it involves a few steps, but you will create nonmanifold geometry. You may want to read about this, a bit. __________________
