transparent glow shader?

I wonder how maya shader can produce the attached image's render.
Inner part is transparent and outter edge getting glow look.
Mostly it would be good for anatomy modleing

That looks like a simple fresnel shader with self illumination. I'm coming form max so I don't know the exact terminology in maya but I think it's something with incandescence where its intensity is mapped with a fresnel-like map (facingRatio?). It's basically a map which changes color according to the viewing angle of the faces (white=(editparallel to face, black = normal to face)
